Three killed in Car Crossover wreck Easter Sunday

A fiery car crash in Antrim Township, Pennsylvania has claimed the lives of three people this past Easter Sunday. Holidays are often the busiest and most dangerous days to travel throughout the year. Tragically, this past holiday weekend was no different. At 11:15 a.m, Raymond E. Beck, age 49, of Gloversville, New York, was traveling in the northbound lane on Interstate 81. His wife, Rebecca Jean Beck, age 48, was sitting in the passenger seat of their Chevrolet Spark.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police press release, the wreck occurred near the Maryland border, about 367 miles north of the Beck’s home in Gloversville, NY. The driver of the Chevrolet, Raymond, was traveling in the right-hand lane. Suddenly, he veered across a lane of traffic, crossed over a median into oncoming traffic, and collided into a Toyota Camry traveling on the opposite side of the interstate.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was Stephen Charles Williamson, age 52, of Hardy, Virginia. His wife, Kristine Ruth Williamson, age 49, of Hardy, Virginia, was sitting in the passenger seat, as the couple traveled in the southbound lane of Interstate 81. The site of the crash is about 235 miles south of the Williamson’s home in Virginia.

In an attempt to avoid the collision, Stephen Williamson swerved. Despite his best efforts, the Spark slammed into the driver’s side of the Williamson’s Camry. The impact caused the Beck’s Spark to become airborne. The Beck’s car then hit an embankment and caught fire. Raymond and Rebecca Beck, were both killed in the accident and pronounced dead on the scene. Kristine Williamson, the passenger in the Camry, was the third victim killed in this deadly collision. Stephen Williamson was transported to Meritus Trauma Center in Hagerstown, Maryland, where police have reported that he is listed in stable condition.

The cause or reasons for the Spark’s crossover wreck remain unspecified. The southbound lane of Interstate 81 was closed between exit 10 in Marion, PA to Exit 3 in Antrim Township, PA, for over three hours following the car wreck. Further information was not immediately available. Check back for further updates.
