Pennsylvania State Police Looking for Tractor-trailer after Wheel Flies Off Vehicle Along Turnpike

Pennsylvania State Police are looking for a tractor-trailer involved in a recent incident in Carbon County. A wheel from the vehicle flew off and crashed through the windshield of a car driven by a woman and her seven-year-old son.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm along the PA Turnpike in Penn Forest Township. Police have released a photo of the truck with the hope that someone will recognize the vehicle and share information that could help them find the driver. The vehicle was last seen around 4:36 pm near milepost 83 on the turnpike.

According to eyewitness reports, the wheel flew off the tractor-trailer and crashed through the windshield. In addition to the driver and her son the vehicle contained the boy’s father and two other children, none of whom were injured. The 34-year-old woman and her son remain in intensive care at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.

Anyone with information about the incident or who recognized the tractor-trailer is encouraged to contact police at 1-800-245-5640.
