Apple Killed My Daughter – Family Blames
The turn of the century changed the entire dynamics of how the world operates. What used to take several months is now done within a second – globalization! Without a doubt, Apple has emerged as one of the best rated IT companies and has built a positive reputation in the market. However, perceived by many as a company which offers the best devices, only a few actually know about the real face of Apple.
The Apple Case
According to a lawsuit filed by the casualty’s attorneys, a 5-year-old girl was killed in a car accident while she was traveling with her father on the Texas Highway. At the time of the accident, Garrett Wilhelm, the driver and father of the girl, was using Apple’s FaceTime app.
On Christmas Eve in 2014, the driver’s casual and non-serious attitude while driving and using Apple’s FaceTime app led to the unfortunate and terrible death of a 5 year old Moriah Modisette. The father, James Modisette, also suffered from potentially life-threatening injuries. The family filed a case that drastically affected their family and their state of mind.
According to the lawsuit, Apple, the most developed and up-to-date tech company which claims to be unbeatable and safe to use, is to be held accountable for this traumatic incident. This is because according to news reports, Apple had attained patent rights for the petition they had signed for a “lock-screen” feature while driving in 2014, many a months before this ever-so depressing event which has now been marked in history. Yet, as claimed by the family’s lawsuit, the tech company did not activate this feature while the driver was using their FaceTime App which distracted him from keeping an eye on the road.
Reports suggest that the driver’s attention was diverted by Apple’s most used and favorite app, FaceTime, which led him to exceed the speed limit of 65m/hr, opening the door for calamity to strike.
The Modisette family, after having lost the gem of their life, is suffering through a deeply traumatic situation and blames Apple for having put them through this distress. According to the lawsuit, had the so-called, self-proclaimed and misleading company activated this feature, they would not have had to suffer from this – but it seems like Apple is more of a killer than it has ever been a collaborator.
The court has not released a final verdict as Apple is yet to present evidence to defend itself. Until this time, both the parties are being carefully scrutinized upon each and every statement they are to release.
