Two Dead After Mayfair Car Crash
Two people died in a serious accident that involved a pedestrian and a motorcyclist in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia.
According to law enforcement, the accident occurs just before noon in the 6400 block of Frankford Avenue in Mayfair. The driver of a Ford F250 truck was headed northbound on Frankford when the motorcycle traveling west on Passmore Street cut it off.
The truck and motorcycle collided and as a result of the collision, the driver of the truck lost control and struck a pedestrian sitting on a bench nearby. The motorcyclist was ejected off his bike onto the sidewalk. He was later pronounced dead at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither of the victims have been identified.
According to Inspector D.F. Pace of the Philadelphia Police Department,
“This tragic sequence of events was clearly caused by the motorcyclist. As for the innocent person sitting on that bench, it’s just a tragic set of circumstances. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Law enforcement believes the motorcyclist might have been intoxicated and might have just left a nearby bar. The medical examiner is conducting toxicology tests.
The truck driver remained at the scene. According to law enforcement, he had not been speeding or disobeying any other traffic laws.
