Fall Kills Man on the Job

Gregory Boasela, a construction worker from Columbiana, Ohio, was recently killed on the job after falling about 60 feet off a building. The event occurred while Boasela was working on the expansion project at Ellwood Quality Steel.

Boasela was 32 years old and died at the scene from blunt force trauma. He reportedly was working for Diamond Steel, a North Lima company that provides cranes for lifting steel.

According to Assistant New Castle Fire Chief Mike Kobbe, the fire department was called to 40 Furnace Street, which is located behind the Central Heating and Plumbing Building, around 8:07 am after Boasela’s fall. The fire chief arrived on the scene, but Boasela was unresponsive and no longer breathing. Kobbe initiated CPR.

Moments later Noga Ambulance paramedics arrived and took over CPR efforts. A helicopter was called to transport Boasela to UPMC.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office is investigating the event, but the cause of the fall has yet to be identified.

Falls One of the Most Common Risks While on the Job

Falls are one of the greatest threats people face while on the job. Every year, people suffer minor and major injuries, and even death, when they fall. In many cases, these falls can be prevented and the injuries caused by the falls avoided.

At Heavens Law, we’ve worked with people who have been injured in falls and in other ways while on the job. We understand how difficult it can be to recover the compensation you deserve after an on-the-job injury and how the process can interfere with your ability to heal and restore your life to normal after an event.

We’ve investigated on-the-job injuries and we’re able to help you build a strong case that gives you the best chance at a positive outcome. We gather information including witness testimony and medical reports. Our team investigates the job site and reviews whether the proper measures were in place to protect against accidents. Our goal is to determine who is responsible for your injuries and help you get the financial support needed to pay for medical bills and lost wages.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a fall or are dealing with injuries caused by another on-the-job event, we can help. For more information or to discuss the event that led to your injuries, contact Heavens Law at 888.897.5377.
