The 30-year-old dirt bike driver was transported to Temple University Hospital. He was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Law enforcement has not made any arrests at this time.
Riding a dirt bike can be an exciting hobby, but it’s also risky. Many even consider dirt biking more dangerous than riding a regular motorcycle, although many of the injuries are often the same.
According to the CDC, there are thousands of dirt bike accidents every year. Many of them result in injuries including:
- Abrasions/road rash
- Broken bones
- Bruises
- Burns
- Concussion
- Fractures
- Internal damage
- Lacerations
- Strain / Sprain
About 40 percent of these injuries are serious. Some are deadly. This is why it’s so important to carefully follow the “rules of the road” when dirt biking. But even doing everything you’re supposed to as a rider you’re still at risk when other vehicles are in the area.
Riders injured in dirt bike accidents can accumulate expensive medical bills. They might have an extended hospital stay or weeks and months of physical therapy. In some cases, these accidents result in paralysis and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). If you or a loved one is injured in a dirt bike accident, you need to contact an attorney familiar with these types of accidents.
These accidents occur when dirt bikes share the road with other vehicles. They also happen when two or more bikers ride together and one is careless or reckless and causes an accident.
Although you might be reluctant to pursue a legal claim against a friend, it’s important to remember that a liable party’s insurance company pays the settlement. If you’re facing mounting medical bills, you have every right to pursue legal action against the responsible party.
